I’m busily working on (what I think are) some clever holiday gift bags. The reusable kind.   Find a variety of sizes and themes over at my shop.  My favorite one so far is the Cardinal Set.  These just beg to be gifted to a friend filled with a yummy loaf of pumpkin bread!  It’s the perfect size for such a goodie!

The green candy cane market tote is made in the same style as my Halloween Trick or Treat Bags, so they are lined and are just ooh-la-la!  I love them!  Plus they are multi-purpose: library bag, market bag, gift bag, etc…

Today, my theme is Gift bags.  I’m so “into” these; they’re reusable, and oftentimes much cuter than their paper counterpart.  I discovered fabric gift bags last year, and began making and using them then.   I have a stash for my own family that I use, as well as some that I make for others as part of their gift.

This year, I’m offering a series of them, in varying sizes.  The first style I’m offering was today’s project.

This bag is made from a winter white linen with a gingham candy cane applique.  Made with gorgeous french seams, I am really pleased with the results.  It’s a gift in itself!

Tie it closed with the drawsting to hide the goodies inside.  Measures 15×14″.  Available at my shop.

So, I think I’m going to play around with it.

It’s only 3 pattern pieces, so it’ll go together easily, and it’s lined, I believe.  I can see it with fleece, corduroy, etc.. and some cute trims.  Can’t you?  And how about a matching scarf?  So, join me for a Sew Along this month and show me YOUR winter hat you make with this pattern!  Post it over on my Flick’r group when you are finished!  If you are going to join in on the sew-along, comment below before adding your picture to the pool!  Oh, and the time frame for this sew-along is by Nov. 30th.

Tuesday’s bag was a smaller item.  The election got me sidetracked since I was caught up with watching the results come in.  Anyway, I made a cell phone (or iPod) pouch with an additional interior slot for a credit card, driver’s license or a few dollars.  This was inspired by a recent client who suggested I merge my wallet mini with a cell phone case.  Great idea, eh!?!!

These cuties are 3.5×5 inches in size, and fit a flip phone perfectly.  Watch for other sizes for your slide phone coming soon!  Currently, these are available over at Artiste.

I have Wednesday’s project completed (a super cute magazine tote, aka. my favorite bag style!), but I need to add some buttons to finish the look.   I promise to get it up for you soon!

Ugh! I see way too many moms out there carrying ginormous diaper bags around (you know what I’m saying ~ the ones that look like they’ve packed for a long weekend trip!), even for short trips out and about.  What I love about these tote-along friendly baby bags is their nice and compact size (12×11x3), yet one can still stuff it full of an afternoon’s worth of necessities!  Two interior elasticized pockets are just right for a few dipes, a bottle or sippy cup, and then there’s still room for a change of clothes and your own wallet and cell phone.

I rarely do “themed” bags, and when I do, it seems to be for baby bags.  I stumbled upon this Noah’s Ark fabric and paired it with some super buttery soft mini-waled cherry red corduroy.  I love the results that the animal buttons near the Ark applique create!
