Water Bottle Coolies

by cute2carry ~ May 26th, 2008. Filed under: Fun Stuff, Handbag Projects.

Inspired by the basic tutorial by Pink Chalk Studio (love, love, love her blog!), I’m attempting to make some water bottle coolies for my kiddos.  My initial practice project today is for my DS9.  I had some of this very disturbing skulls fabric left over from a custom client’s project.   I figured I might as well use it up on practice projects.  Go figure that DS9 loves the result.

Anyway, I bought some Insul-Bright at JoAnn’s yesterday to use as the insulating layer, and some leftover vinyl (you know, the type of thing you’d make a diaper changing pad with) for the interior layer so that it would act as a moisture barrier when the bottle sweats.  I’m thinking PUL would be a good option here, too.  (already planning my next attempt, here! LOL)

On a side note, the picture below is of my DS9 in his new tee from his swim meet this weekend.  It’s very cool, isn’t it!

Great job, the smile on your son’s face says it all!

You did a fantastic job! I’ll be making one of these for my kiddo soon. He brings a bottle to school and freaks if it sweats on his desk. We have been using an old baseball sock as an insulator, but now I’ll make him a camo/dragon/skulls/flames (do you see a 9 year old theme here?) water bottle holder.
